A small master bedroom can be redecorated without having to spend a lot of money. You can work with the existing layout and furniture and change only the colors of the wall, decor and the bedding.
The room must reflect the personality of the owner.
For this example, the owner is a 30 year old woman who is looking for her first home to settle down. The master bedroom is a place that is relaxing and romantic.
- The queen size bed is positioned off center due to the lack of space and the placement of the doors. When designing the room, you should consider the flow from the hallway towards the bathroom. The room has been given a palette consisting of dark navy and grays with a hint of citrine yellow.
- To provide a calm backdrop for the room, the walls are painted with a coat of Denim. Then different materials are used on the pillow cases and throw pillows. Above the bed are flowers to bring more colors to the room that complements the navy blue walls. White draperies with black fabric as backing are used to make the room more relaxing.
- Small yellow items are used as accents in the room. Some items you can use include small lamps, shower curtains, or a custom artwork. Because the bed is off-center, you can use a small grouping of frames to one side of the bed to draw attention away from the placement of the bed.
- While it is okay to repeat colors on other elements of the room, for this project the color of the walls are not used anywhere else. Navy blue and gray have the same saturation and weight of the color that makes it possible. The two colors don’t match but they look good with each other.
